In this key strategic role, you'll lead a dedicated team within the Oncology Business Unit, responsible for defining the global commercial strategy and go-to-market models for a portfolio of indications with a launch horizon of 2 years or less. Based in either Cambridge or Gaithersburg, you'll have the opportunity to draw on the brightest and most diverse minds to impact at scale through partnerships, both internally and externally.

As the Head of Marketing and Market Access, you will provide end-to-end diagnostic strategies for biomarkers and diagnostic solutions with a launch timeline of 2 years or sooner. You'll create and lead execution of global go-to-market strategies, develop value propositions and positioning for biomarkers and diagnostic solutions as enablers for targeted therapies. Additionally, you'll shape policy and advocacy, develop market access and funding approaches relevant for each market archetype and healthcare structure, and partner with diagnostic providers to achieve diagnostics coverage by local payers.

Key responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end diagnostic strategies for biomarkers and diagnostic solutions with a launch timeline of 2 years or sooner.
- Create and lead execution of global go-to-market strategies, develop value propositions and positioning for biomarkers and diagnostic solutions as enablers for targeted therapies.
- Provide commercial perspective and input into selection of local solutions for development and providers for partnering. Collect customer insights, lead market assessment and strategic evaluations of diagnostics options, and develop approaches for biomarker adoption/expansion.
- Shape policy and advocacy, develop market access and funding approaches relevant for each market architype and healthcare structure. Partner with diagnostic providers to achieve diagnostics coverage by local payers.
- Align diagnostic organizations with AZ oncology franchises, taking a holistic, cross-product, cross-functional collaborative approach.
- Define and implement life cycle management strategies to ensure continued innovation in diagnostics.
- Monitor diagnostic testing competitive environment and market trends.
- Cultivate and build relationships with internal and external key stakeholders, customers, and professional bodies.
- Develop tactical plans for local diagnostics solutions in close collaboration with cross-functional groups such as Medical Affairs Diagnostics, and lead their implementation with the markets.
- Establish organizational governance and cadence (“ways of working”) and optimize structure for global diagnostic teams.
- Develop performance targets and KPIs for local execution, and monitor and report progress regularly.

Job requirements
- A solid understanding of the role of biomarkers and diagnostics in personalized medicine as well as established connections and relationships in the diagnostic space.
- Working knowledge of the clinical laboratory testing environments (including regulatory, reimbursement, and promotional guidelines) in key markets including U.S., Japan, EU, Canada, and China.
- A results-oriented, highly collaborative, and dedicated focus on bringing innovative treatment options and diagnostics to patients.
- Has a track record of defining and executing diagnostic initiatives in collaboration with key global functions including Research and Development, Insights and Analytics, Competitive Intelligence, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Legal, Supply Operations, and Communications.
- Bachelor’s Degree and advanced degree in Marketing or MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a life sciences company with a minimum of 10 years’ relevant strategic marketing experience.
- An experienced leader with a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing people and leading teams.
- Experience in a fast growth commercial organization with product launch experience.
- Understanding of diagnostic and oncology trends with an ability to integrate knowledge or research from multiple data sources to develop and support assumptions.
- Global / International and US experience (ideally HQ and in-market).
- Experience working in a matrix organization. Exceptional communicator and collaborator who can effectively influence and drive change within the organization.
