We are seeking a HR Advisor who is enthusiastic, hard-working and who has three or more years generalist HR experience to join our existing friendly HR team. You will be based at our new primary school in Milton Keynes but will work across a number of local schools as and when required and so a full driving licence is a must.

You will be required to be CIPD qualified or equivalent and will have some experience of advising managers and employees on a variety of HR matters or queries. This is a varied, busy role and you will be a main contact for schools within the Trust in relation to HR matters so up to date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice is important. You will be a trusted advisor, assisting and supporting managers at all levels in the people management of their departments, advising on disciplinary, absence or capability issues when they arise. You will report to the HR Manager who will act as a coach and mentor.

As a result of ongoing growth, we have a busy recruitment plan over the next 3-5 years and you will be responsible for all stages of this, with the support of the HR Assistants.

Provide an effective and efficient HR service in direct liaison with the HR Manager and the Headteachers, working across all school sites. The post holder will be expected to actively model and promote the values and ethos of the Trust in accordance with the Associate Staff Standards and to perform across a diverse range of activities. The following job description outlines the main responsibilities of the job and is not an exhaustive list of all relevant duties.
- Provide HR advice to Headteachers and Senior Leaders within the Trust, partnering with and acting as first point of contact for Headteachers in relation to but not limited to ER issues, recruitment, capability and absence issues.
- To orchestrate the recruitment process of new staff, working alongside the HR Assistants to ensure a timely and efficient service is provided. Ensuring all aspects of the process meet the safer recruitment guidelines and do not expose the school to risk in respect of recruitment and safeguarding practices.
- Provide advice and guidance on all employee relations/change management matters to Headteachers, line managers and staff across the Trust. This will include, but is not limited to, disciplinary and grievance processes, absence management, performance and capability procedures.
- Ensure that employee relations and change management activities are delivered professionally, within agreed timeframes and fully meet best practice and legislative requirements.
- Monitor both short and long-term sickness absence, advising line managers and ensuring that staff are managed in accordance with the Trust’s Managing Attendance Policy, to enable return to work at the earliest opportunity and that, where necessary, Occupational Health referrals are undertaken.
