NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

- "_NRS has an exciting portfolio of projects across the fleet with many decades of work on our forward plan. Every project has unique and interesting challenges requiring sound engineering judgement, teamwork and project delivery excellence. Many of our projects are world first decommissioning challenges and attract interest from the wider decommissioning community. Some examples include - the decommissioning of the world’s first high temperature helium cooled reactor using laser cutting and remote operations at Winfrith; the removal of 8 1000Te heat exchangers from the primary circuit at Dungeness and subsequent smelting; the isolation, asbestos removal & demolition of the Sizewell A turbine Hall; the removal of the graphite core at Trawsfynydd, which will be the largest ever reactor core decommissioning activity worldwide._
- Berkeley Site covers 27 hectares of special scientific interest on the bank of the River Severn that finished generating in 1989 and is currently in the decommissioning phase._
- A priority for the Site is removing all legacy wastes, emptying the active waste vaults and demolition and deconstruction of the majority of the buildings and facilities to ultimately return the site back to green field and re-use._
- Due to a promotion, we're recruiting a Quality Lead._
- As the Quality Lead, you'll lead a team to produce compliant record sets for the waste retrieved and packaged in concrete boxes from the Berkeley waste vaults, and for the waste packaged into Ductile Cast Iron Containers (DCICs) from the Shielded Area and at Oldbury Site. This is an important role as these record sets will accompany the packaged waste to the Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) currently being created by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. These records state what is contained within each package and prove that it was compliantly packaged._
- Your team consists of a QA Engineer and two Document Controllers. Collaborating with the Project team, Engineering department and Disposability team, you will be involved in developing new quality plans and operating instructions to ensure the correct records are produced and to ensure the records are compliant with the regulatory requirements._

**_ Please note this role is based onsite at Berkeley site. The contractual hours are Monday to Thursday, 07.25 - 17.00, perfect for someone looking for a four day week._**

**Key Deliverables**
- Ensure compliant records are produced for packages of ILW that comply with Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) requirements.
- Manage the configuration of the operating documentation to ensure consistency, ensuring the documentation is up-to-date and reviewed on a regular basis.
- Work with others to develop quality plans and operating instructions for new waste streams and processes.
- Seek continuous improvement in existing processes to improve efficiency, including the deployment of electronic processes where beneficial.
- Report record status and error trends.
- Represent the department in internal and external audits with NWS, the NDA and the Environment Agency.
- Manage a small team of QA engineers and document administrators.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Member of a relevant professional institute (essential).
- Diploma or equivalent in relevant specialism. E.g., NEBOSH (essential).
- Relevant experience in specialism related roles (essential).
- Detailed knowledge of International / ISO Standards (essential).
- Detailed knowledge of obligations for compliance with QA standards (essential).
- Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / OHSAS 1800
