**Navy Command Radio Pool (NCRP) Equipment Manager**

**Background**:
The RN Portable Radio Equipment (PRE) Manager undertakes the day to day management and co-ordination of RN PRE on behalf of the RN PRE Lead Authority and RN PRE Capability Manager. This includes capability awareness and configuration of equipment prior todespatch to RN ships, submarines, Air stations, RM Units and Shore Establishments.

The NRCP outsourced team will be able to make day to day decisions within the agreed allocations for PRE and closely liaising with Navy Digital-FGEN Ops and/or the PRE Capability Manager (ISCM) to deliver against Operational priorities and for new requirementsor any capability uplifts.

**Tasking may include, but is not limited to**:

- To be responsible for the secure control of stocks of Commercial and MOD Radios, reporting any storeroom defects through MCSU processes and procedures.
- The issue of serviceable Portable Communications Equipment (PCE) to meet operational demand and Capability Managers priorities including exchange for defective items and transportation to outward shippers as required.
- The Return of unserviceable equipment to the correct authority for repair and/or replacement IAW existing support arrangements.
- Taking any follow-on reporting action following the raising of Equipment Failure Reports (including MOD Form 731).
- Providing advice and assistance on the operation and maintenance of in-service equipment.
- Provision and configuration of Portable Communications Equipment (PCE) in the NCRP prior to despatch.
- To be qualified to complete paperwork and package Dangerous Goods for onward transfer.
- The management and accurate accounting for all NCRP items held on Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) IAW JSP 886 to enable the tracking of all Navy Command Portable radio assets including issues, demands, returns, losses and disposal items.
- To administer Joint Asset Management & Engineering Solutions (JAMES)
- The provision of routine equipment audit returns to the RN PRE Capability Manager.
- Monitor equipment levels and liaise with the RN PRE Capability Manager for the replenishment of stock.
- Monitor equipment usage and returns, raising any recurring issues, defect trends or equipment misuse early with the RN PRE Capability Manager in order that action is taken to rectify any problems.
- Conduct periodic musters of all stock IAW the instructions laid down in JSP 886, reporting any discrepancies to the Naval Stores Manager, HMS Nelson and also informing the RN PRE Capability Manager.
- Be the Portable Radio Custodian (PRC) and Airwave Terminal Custodian (ATC) for all radio and ancillary equipment held within the pool.

**The NCRP Role. NCRP Portsmouth will**:

- Act as a holding centre for pools of radio equipment and associated ancillary items for loan, as reserves or returned from service (e.g. from ships decommissioning).
- Accept the return of all serviceable and unserviceable equipment and issue replacement items when necessary.
- Issue initial equipment outfits IAW established unit scales of allowance to new construction ships on demand.
- Issue new equipment being introduced into service IAW unit scales of allowance.
- Re-supply equipment outfits IAW established unit scales of allowance to ships emerging from refit, upkeep or extended readiness periods and to ships returning from overseas deployments where equipment has been held for safe keeping.
- Request and arrange disposal instructions from equipment sponsors IAW the equipment contract and support package detailed for each outfit.
- Complete periodic enhanced maintenance, routine conditioning checks and software upgrades.
- Manage regular first line repair maintenance.
- Maintain stocks of routine and emergency equipment in a serviceable condition and ready for immediate deployment.
- Maintain a rolling stock of fully charged and conditioned batteries ready for immediate deployment.

**Person Specifications**

To be considered for this role you will ideally have the following:
**Essential Skills**
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Able to follow laid down procedures.
- Logistics experience

**Desirable Skills**
- Familiar with systems including but not limited to:
Janes, MJDI
- Dangerous Goods Certificate

**Contract Information**:

- This contract will be on a PAYE basis.
- Salary dependant on experience and interview.
- Base location will be Whale Island
- Start date - ASAP
- Contract running until March 2024
