**Job summary**:
The Principal Security Adviser’s (PSyA)’s team situated within HM Naval Base Portsmouth is part of Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) function based in Whale Island, Portsmouth, the nerve centre of the Naval Service. It upholds operations around the globe and provides the ships, people, aircraft, and equipment to deliver the UK’s defence policy.

NCHQ supports all the Royal Navy’s activities, from front-line operations to personnel support and training; finance and governance; safety; equipment acquisition; programmes and planning; and Defence Engagement. Civil servants and Armed Forces personnel work together in a wealth of interesting and exciting jobs in areas ranging from finance; legal services; personnel and HR; project planning and managing contracts, to media and communications.

**Job description**:
The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining the Command Security Issue and Risk Register enabling effective analysis of strategic security and resilience risk and delivering Security & Resilience Risk Management policy and guidance. ensuring that interpretation of Defence Security Policy for the maritime environment is up-to-date and effective.

**Responsibilities**:
Primary Purpose:

- Provide risk-management and first-level Security Assurance of HM Ships/Submarines, RFAs and Navy Command Establishments/RM Units,to include HMNB Nuclear Security1 and Sea Cadet Units Conventional through monitoring of security risks and risk balance cases reported online.
- b. Identify trends and disparities between reported security risks and security incidents reported to the Warning Advice and Reporting Point (WARP).
- c. To utilise Security Risk Management Assurance information to inform Security Risk Management and Security Culture strategy.

To act as Deputy for NC PSyA Security Culture/SRM SO1 and represent NC PSyA, as required, in matters relating to the provision of security advice and inspections/assurance to the Commanding Officers of HM Ships/Submarines, RFAs, Navy Command shore establishments, Sea Cadet Units and RM Units throughout the UK and abroad.

a. To assist in the compilation and distribution of security educational material and in the delivery of security culture campaigns.

b. To act as deputy building custodian for Building 1/080, Jago Road.
