The Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team are looking for an experienced Senior Diversity and Inclusion Officer to support and advise the Health Board to meet its statutory responsibilities, and move beyond these, in our ambition to demonstrate continued improvement as a diverse and inclusive organisation.

Specific objectives and areas of work can be found in the Job Description, but the role will mainly focus around:
Strategy and policy advice

Training, communication and engagement activities

The role requires experienced, appropriately qualified and competent professionals with broad experience in EDI work and a sound understanding of the policy and legislative context. The ability to negotiate and influence at all levels is essential.

You will work collaboratively with EDI Teams across Wales and key stakeholders. You must be a team player but with the ability to work autonomously and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.

You will advise and support staff to complete Equality and Health Impact Assessments for a range of projects, policies and procedures. This will include working as part of a multi-disciplinary group driving large-scale service change as well as smaller scale service re-design programmes.

This is a full-time post working hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work to support community engagement activities.

The post holder will work alongside the EDI Manager and have strong connections both to internal and external partners.

You will work with the EDI Manager and the wider team to implement the Health Board’s Strategic Equality Objectives. This will include working on a range of projects, ensuring that they are inclusive of the needs of our service users and staff, and that they are compliant with relevant EDI legislation.

Other duties include developing and delivering general awareness training, facilitating staff networks, attending community events, and monitoring activity to ensure that the Health Board remains on target to achieve national and local equality objectives.

The post holder will be responsible for providing clear, articulate reports and specialist advice based on evidence and performance information and best practice in relation to EDI, in order to provide assurance on the Health Board’s compliance with relevant legislation and progress against the its stated equality objectives.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
**Four main hospitals**: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
** Seven community hospitals**: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
 48 general practices (six of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
