Here at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) we work on things that make a real difference to people’s lives.
Whether it's through the homes we live in, the work of our local councils, or the communities we’re all part of, our work is at the top of the political agenda. We have ambitious and far-reaching outcomes to achieve this year and, if you’re thinking of joining us, there’s never been a more exciting time.
We have over 3,500 staff who are based in 20 offices across the UK

We’re looking for three skilled User Researchers to work on a range of varied projects and activities in Planning, with impact on local communities. Working closely with other user centred designers, policy professionals and project managers, you’ll be designing and delivering research and evaluation with diverse users to inform government policy, funding interventions and service design.
Our two Planning Capacity and Capability Programme roles work in a team who deliver a suite of interventions to support town planners in local government in building the skills and resources needed to deliver a more efficient and sustainable planning system, which can adapt to and successfully implement change.
Our third role will involve working on the Digital Planning Programme, which aims to enable a modern and efficient planning system in England. The Programme will shift a documents-based system to one that is data-driven, standards-based, and powered by modern user-centred products and services.
We have a supportive user-centred design community at DLUHC, as well as through training and informal opportunities.
If successful you’ll be offered the opportunity to undertake a professional learning qualification as part of the role through a suitable apprenticeship, if this is in line with both business needs and your development needs. This is not a mandatory condition of accepting the role.
