**Job overview**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 4 EQA Associate Practitioner to work within a friendly, professional and busy team dedicated to providing External Quality Assessment (EQA) programmes to Hospital Laboratories.

Birmingham Quality (UK NEQAS) provides External Quality Assessment (EQA) Services for Clinical Chemistry laboratories within the UK and worldwide. Clinical Chemistry specimens are prepared in-house at Birmingham Quality and then dispatched to hospital laboratories. Birmingham Quality is based offsite, at Birmingham Research Park which is close to both the old and new Queen Elizabeth Hospitals and is adjacent to the National Blood Service on Vincent Drive.

The hours are full time, notionally between 08:30 and 17:00, and the position is permanent.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to patient care by providing services designed to guarantee the quality of patient test results.

The job is varied and includes, but not limited to:

- Planning own day-to-day work and that of other support staff.
- Supervises and trains less experienced staff working on tasks in the laboratory and post room.
- Receiving, checking and processing biological materials
- Manufacture of EQA specimens
- Receiving, checking and processing biological materials
- Undertakes specialist and non-routine work related to the operation of EQA
- Specialist administration and quality management systems
- Working as part of a busy team
