We are looking for fabulous people to complete our wonderful team
A friendly, sociable, fun and talkative lady with Learning Disabilities and Autism is looking for relief support workers to join her team of professional carers who provide one to one 24/7 high quality person centr'ed support, including personal care in her own home.
As a team member your aim is to support this lady to live her life in a safe, independent and dignified way. We are looking for professionals who are committed to a person centred approach and who appreciate the importance of facilitating choice and building skills and confidence. The position requires someone reliable and trustworthy however it is essential that they are also a friendly, kind and patient team member, conscious of maintaining safety and dignity for this lady.
This lady loves being outdoors, and is encouraged to participate in light exercise that maintains and promotes good mobility. Activities may include going for picnics and long walks or going to the gym or swimming. Other activities may include a drive out and stopping for a coffee, the odd shopping trip or a bit of gardening. In her downtime, this lady enjoys listening to her radio, working on jigsaws and crafts together, baking, helping with light chores or just having a good blether. Can you bring your best so that she can live her best life?
Our aim is to create shift patterns with the minimum of change overs and disruptions to the client so when we call on the relief team our priority is to cover the vacant shift with just one worker (whilst providing employees with an attractive working schedule), therefore flexibility is essential as is the ability to work longer/different shift patterns including sleepovers. Shift examples include (not exhaustive):
7am to 6pm - 11 hours
6pm to 7am - 11 hours (night shift)
6pm to 6pm - 24 hours
6pm to 7am on the second day - 37 hours
As we are a service built around one individual, we do not offer guaranteed relief shifts. Shifts that cover sick leave are by their nature, short notice while cover for annual leave and other absences are planned at least two weeks in advance. We have a core team of five providing direct care and therefore require additional cover most months, however, relief shifts cannot be guaranteed on a running rota basis but as they become available through gaps in the rota, sick leave, annual leave etc. and the same hours aren’t guaranteed each month.
This position would suit someone looking to top up hours in addition to their current position/s, or someone semi-retired.
An enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) is required.
References required.
Driving licence desirable as a mobility car will be available.
Female applicants only due to the nature of care.
