Senior Support Worker - £23,550 per annum

**Responsible to: Service Development Officer (SDO)**

**Accountable to: SDO/Guardian**

**Primary Job Purpose**

We are an independent private service with a team of eight, working alongside Enable Scotland, to promote and develop person-centred services that wrap around the needs of the Service User.

You will be an acting senior member of the team that supports a friendly, sociable, fun and talkative lady with Learning Disabilities and Autism living in her own tenancy.

Your role will be to ensure that a team of professional carers (working on a one to one basis) provide high-quality person-centred support including personal care, managing challenging behaviours and administering medications.

As a Senior Support Worker your aim is to support the individual to live her life in a safe, independent, and dignified way, whilst ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the service. We are looking for a professional who is committed to a person-centred approach and appreciates the importance of facilitating appropriate choice whilst building skills and confidence. The position requires someone reliable and trustworthy, who can work under their own initiative and resolve conflict, however, it is essential that they are also friendly, kind and patient and conscious of maintaining safety and dignity for the Service User.

**Person Specification - Additional Requirements**
- Good communication skills - English language, both written and oral
- Shared responsibility for petty cash, book keeping and bank card
- Motivate and support the staff team
- Induct new staff into the staff team
- Ensure that all policies and procedures are carried out to a high standard
- Report any concerns regarding staff practice to the SDO
- Participate in an on-call rota
- Regularly report to, foster and maintain a good relationships with the SDO
- Support the SDO in facilitating regular supervision and team meetings
- Discuss and implement Learning & Development for team members alongside the SDO
- Be the First Point of Contact for staff and relevant others
- Maintain positive employee relations and good practice
- Alongside the Guardian and SDO, to link with formal agencies, such as Social Work, Housing and Health Professionals

Our aim is to create shift patterns with the minimum of change overs and disruptions to the client whilst providing employees with an attractive working schedule. Flexibility is essential as is the ability to work different shift patterns including sleepovers.

An enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) is required.

References required.

Driving licence desirable as a mobility car will be available.

**Salary**: £12.94 per hour
