**Project Officer**

PECT have worked in fuel poverty and domestic energy for over 5 years. We aim to support people to maintain a warmer home, so they can experience the associated health benefits and reduce their energy bills, in particular over the winter period. Through our advice service we have helped over 2000 households throughout Cambridgeshire and in the current climate this service will be even more necessary.

**Purpose of role**:
As a Project Officer within our Energy Advice team you will be supporting households in Cambridgeshire.
You will be assessing their energy needs and offering tailored advice to help them stay warm, reduce their energy costs and maximise their income. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

Peterborough PE2 5UU, with homeworking 3 days a week

**Salary (per annum pro rata)**: £22,500

**Interview Date**: Week Commencing the 30th January 2023

**Hours/Week**: 37 hours

**Work outside normal hours**: Occasional evening and weekend work may be required

**Reports to**: Energy Project Coordinator

**Key responsibilities**:
Provide 1:1 support to households experiencing fuel poverty to help improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs in the home. This support is provided over the phone and in person at community events or home visits.

Ensure households are equipped with skills and tools to reduce their energy bills by providing advice on fuel management and reducing energy use.

During home visits energy saving items will be provided and installed, such as LED lightbulbs and draught proofing. Energy items will also be provided through the post when a home visit is not necessary.

Working collaboratively with other frontline workers in the area to provide a holistic offering to households if needed, as well as making onward referrals for other services.

Support with managing PECT’s freephone energy advice line and fielding telephone calls.

Attend in person community events to promote the energy advice service and provide face to face advice to attendees.

Provide advice and guidance on water tariffs and any other relevant utility savings.

Carry out follow up surveys after initial visit with 15% of tenants (by phone where possible) to record behaviour change.

Support with training frontline workers in the area to enable them to offer basic energy efficiency advice to their service users, such as housing officers and Local Authority staff.

Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders and the wider network.

Support the Project Coordinator with other relevant tasks when needed.

Seek opportunities to develop new/extend existing work and income streams for PECT. This could be through project development, fundraising and/or partnership working. Support other

PECT business and environment initiatives.

**Essential** **criteria**:
Experience working in a customer service or advisory role.

A personable character with a caring and empathetic approach to others.

Excellent communication skills extending to colleagues, the public and key stakeholders.

Demonstrable experience of meeting challenging targets.

Excellent word processing and IT skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office software package.

Excellent administration and customer service skills.

Must be a team player but also able to act independently and use own initiative.

Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time

Ability to problem solve and research the best solution to individual needs

Willing to undertake training where required.

Flexible and able to deal with changing priorities.

Ability to travel throughout Cambridgeshire, specifically Fenland, Huntingdonshire, Cambridge

City and East Cambridgeshire.

**Desirable**:
Knowledge and understanding on the energy sector and fuel poverty

City and Guilds level 3 in Energy Awareness or equivalent.

Previous experience of providing energy efficiency advice.

Understanding of the principle of good customer care.

Experience of managing Funder relationships and the ability write and present clear and concise reports on time.

Previous experience of providing training for others.

Experience of organising and running public events.

Experience of providing telephone advice and follow up surveys.
