The post-holder will support the GP’s smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient. The successful individual will perform clinical observations and skills on patients, under direction from the GP.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Reviewing and coding of clinical correspondence and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions required.
- Signposting correspondence to others members of the team such as clinical pharmacist etc.
- Arranging appointments, referrals, letters, tests and follow up appointments for patients
- Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.
- Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs, phlebotomy & vaccinations within competences (following adequate training).
- Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc in line with GPA Competency Framework 2
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g., getting an on-call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s)

**Governance**
- To ensure compliance with Federation’s policies, procedures and guidelines for self and others, by taking action/alerting senior management team if practice appears to contravene policy, or if concerned about any aspect of patient care
- To ensure compliance at all times and without exception with the organisation’s Information Governance regulations and Standing Financial Instructions

- Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skill and activities to others who are undertaking similar work

Training may need to be undertaken outside of normal hours, and off site.

**Other**

This post involves the use of display screen equipment as a significant part of normal work and the job holder will be a user as defined in the Health & Safety Policy on work with DSE.

The post holder may need to work from different locations.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: £12.25-£13.44 per hour
