Essential requirements
- Lived experience of mental health issues and/or services
- An understanding of the issues young people face
- Ability to form and maintain professional working boundaries between staff and service users
- Awareness and basic understanding of the Legislation and Guidance relevant to young people in residential care.
- Have to ability to challenge where necessary and feedback the views of service users
- Have access to a vehicle for work purposes with the ability to travel to the sites within the Care in Mind portfolio
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience of working in a residential care setting
- Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs
Care in Mind provide residential services for young people aged 16-25 years old. The young people we care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self-harming, behaviour, and emotional difficulties. Our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve their individual goals, in preparation for transition to adult life.

Do you have lived experience of mental health difficulties and/or experience of services? Do you have a passion for making a difference to young people’s lives? If so, this role could be the ideal opportunity for you to help further develop our service user participation and co-production strategy.
You will work closely with our Head of Residential services to develop and monitor service user participation and will liaise with our young people to increase engagement in involvement projects. You will co-ordinate the service user champions ensuring projects are delivered.
You will work closely with our residential and clinical teams visiting our residential homes and build effective relationships with our young people. You will assist with our mock inspection process and play an integral role in our young person forum, overseeing the involvement of service users.
A key part of the role will be to support with our recruitment and training ensuring this is co-produced by our young people. You will also develop support for families and carers and administer an annual survey to gain feedback on our services.
You will attend senior management meetings, providing an important role in giving feedback from a service user perspective on policies and procedures, so it is important that you are comfortable in these situations and feel able to challenge appropriately.
