Non-medical Prescribing Support Volunteer

Overview:
**Purpose of role**:
As a NMP Support Volunteer at the Wellingborough hub, you are an equal and valued member of the clinical/Healthcare team, supporting them in the day-to-day delivery of clinical interventions. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who is currently working within a clinical/prescribing setting and wants to broaden their skills knowledge and understanding whilst gaining experience in the substance misuse field.
Our service users’ health and wellbeing are really important to us so you will be playing a pivotal role in supporting the promotion of healthier lifestyles and harm reduction interventions including providing naloxone within our services and community hubs. You will be working with clients to prepare them for a medical review this will include taking blood pressure, screening for substances, and discussing expectations. You will also be supporting our prescribing clinics gaining an understanding of our medical interventions and prescribing regimes.

**Responsibilities**:
**Key Activities**:
- Support the team to undertake healthcare assessments.
- Support and gain and understanding of medical, phase 1 and alcohol assessments/ reviews.
- Complete and follow up on referrals to specialist care provides and share outcomes with health and wellbeing nurse, non-medical prescriber, and specialist doctor
- Support team in the management of prescriptions
- logging, script change forms, issuing prescriptions and gain an understanding of checking and signing prescription batches.
- Support and gain an understanding of titrations
- examination and understanding the processes that support decision making around dose increases.
- Shadow MARAC meetings/MDT meetings/complex case meetings
- Prepare service users ready for clinics.
- Support the delivery of clinics and interventions including administrative duties.
- Record activities and interventions undertaken.
- As part of the team, participate in the promotion of health and wellbeing interventions
- Support the delivery of detox interventions
- Assist and carry out screening processes including urine and saliva tests.
- Liaise with other partner agencies including primary care and pharmacies ties
- Engage in supervision for the above specified tasks
