An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to work alongside the MS Admin and nurse team.
Working as part of the specialist Multiple Sclerosis Service team, the post holder will need to use their own initiative, respond to patient calls and queries in a diplomatic and professional manner. The role will require the person to have the ability to communicate with patients, relatives and visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner and also exercise initiative to organise their own workload. A good standard of literacy and numeracy is required along with a good basic knowledge of IT/keyboard skills and experience in audio transcription.
The post holder will be expected to provide help for the multiple sclerosis specialist nurses as and when needed.
- To provide administrative and telephone support to the multiple sclerosis admin co-ordinator and speciality nurses.
- Book, change or cancel appointments as required. To co-ordinate outpatient appointments.
- Organise follow up reviews as necessary
- Chasing results (blood results) from GP surgeries.
- Accurately transcribing from Winscribe digital dictation, outpatient clinic letters and miscellaneous clinical correspondence to a high standard with specified timescales.

- Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines.
- Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.
- Adapt a flexible attitude to meet the needs of the service, taking into consideration each department’s unique specialty and the subsequent requirements of such specialist services.
- Provide cover for Patient Pathway Administrator colleagues during times of sickness and annual leave. to include taking patient phone calls and directing them to the appropriate person.
- Add and outcome Specialist Nurse telephone clinics on Medway
- Obtaining results from NoTIS (blood results) and checking for further appointments, scans etc
- To undertake other specialty specific duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures to facilitate the patient pathway
- Promote an open friendly working environment
