Distribution Assistant

Axtell is a leading local supplier to the construction industry. We supply ready mix concrete, screed and aggregates; and provide concrete pumping and waste collection services to commercial, domestic and DIY customers throughout the Southeast and beyond. The company has depots in Surrey, West Sussex, and Hampshire, and our head office is in Hurtmore, Godalming.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and sales orientated Distribution Assistant to join our distribution team, reporting to our (Aggregates & Waste Collection) Distribution Manager. The position is telephone and PC based and requires; excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, good attention to detail, an aptitude for multi-tasking between customer service and data entry and the capacity to learn and share product knowledge with confidence. Full training will be given and therefore previous experience in the construction sector is preferred, but not essential.
What you will be doing:
- Taking calls in a helpful and friendly manner
- Answering questions and offering advice based on product knowledge
- Taking bookings from a wide range of customers
- Updating databases and performing general data entry and administrative tasks
- Processing payments
- Upselling/cross selling products and services
- Assisting with the allocation of jobs to drivers when required
- Dealing with any incoming job queries from drivers
- Using associated CRM systems to coordinate and control the order process
Hours of work will be Monday to Friday (08:00 - 17:00) and in addition, every third Saturday (8am - 12 midday) which will be homebased.
A driving licence and car is essential owing to location of our office.
Salary according to skills and experience.
