Apprentice- Level 4 Asset Management

London, United Kingdom High Speed Two (HS2) Full time

**Level 4 Asset Management Apprenticeship - London Podium**

At HS2 we offer a two-year rotational Apprenticeship programme, working towards the Level 4 Asset Manager apprenticeship, providing you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself whilst we support you to implement your learning.

HS2 Apprentices join us in September 2024, where they will have a full Induction into HS2 and meet their apprentice cohort. Our apprentices will complete a learning week every 6 months, which is designed to develop core skills, knowledge and behaviours required on the HS2 Project. Apprentices are supported by their day-to-day team and the Talent and Development team, where regular team meetings are set up weekly, 1:1’s are provided, and every apprentice is assigned a mentor for their durations as well as a team buddy.

**About the role**

The role will support the Asset Management team, to ensure we set up a business that allows our assets to be managed in a way to achieve our objectives and provide the necessary level of service.

You will learn how to assess the performance, condition, root cause of failure, consequence of failure and risk to physical assets, asset systems and the service they provide. You will learn how to identify asset investment needs, interventions and mitigations for asset failure. You will participate in the management of asset data, supplier selection and management, and support stakeholder engagement. We expect you to promote and champion asset management within HS2.

This programme is designed around learning the theory of asset management with a training provider and putting these skills to use in the workplace. It will provide you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself across various aspects of asset management within the HS2 Infrastructure Management department.

The Infrastructure Management team will be the future operator of the end state railway. This means that today we lead the programme of work to create the business capabilities and processes to run the railway and gain the license to operate the infrastructure, while supporting the HS2 Programme, project managers and engineers to ensure the requirements within the operational concepts are realised.

The Asset Management team, which is within the Infrastructure Management department, supports the deployment of integrated management systems for both digital and physical assets. We manage the information being delivered from building the assets, set up systems to manage this information and establish the necessary data analytics requirements to understand the data and bring it to life, using a variety of tools and solutions. We are also putting in place a structured operating model for the new infrastructure manager organisation, based on ISO 55000 Asset Management Principles.
- Infrastructure Operations. _The Infrastructure Operations team is responsible for developing arrangements to safely operate the railway from the Network Integrated Control Centre (NICC) in a truly integrated way that differs to the conventional railway network. This includes supporting the HS2 project managers to deliver the railway systems that support this way of working, the development of operational rules, standards and procedures, the planning of exercises to ensure the railway is ready to operate.
- Infrastructure Maintenance _**. **The Infrastructure Maintenance Team is responsible for developing arrangements to safely maintain all assets on the railway and in the stations in a way that is invisible to our customers experience and generates the optimum levels of availability and reliability for the lowest sustainable cost. This includes managing contracts to maintain those assets that have already been delivered, development of engineering standards and procurement of on track machines.
- Ergonomics. _The ergonomics team uses information about human abilities, attributes and limitations, and applies methods and techniques to investigate and predict people's behaviour. They help to design a railway and an operating organisation that maximizes the safety, performance, efficiency, and reliability of the HS2 network.

Additional placements might be available in other areas of the infrastructure manager, including the passenger rolling stock and depots team, the infrastructure programme management team, the infrastructure capability team, as well as the wider HS2 delivery programme.
