We are seeking a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (EHCP) department to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) to ensure they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. The role involves working closely with the SENCo, teachers, and other professionals to implement tailored interventions and strategies that meet the child's individual needs.
This role is Part-Time, 22 hours per week. However, opportunities for more hours may arise. This is 2 year fixed term contract.
Main Purpose:
- To provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) to ensure they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. The role involves working closely with the SENCo, teachers, and other professionals to implement tailored interventions and strategies that meet the child's individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individual Support:
- Work 1:1 with the child, providing personalised support in line with their EHCP.
- Assist in implementing individualised learning plans and adapting teaching materials.
- Facilitate the child’s engagement in classroom activities and promote their independence.
Academic Assistance:
- Support the child in understanding and completing tasks, reinforcing learning objectives.
- Provide targeted interventions to address specific learning difficulties.
- Monitor and record the child's progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
Behavioural and Emotional Support:
- Help manage the child's behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
- Support the child's emotional and social development, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement consistent behaviour management plans.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the SENCo, teachers, and external professionals to review and update the EHCP.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with parents/carers regarding the child's progress and any concerns.
- Attend relevant meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
General Duties:
- Ensure the child's safety and well-being at all times.
- Promote and adhere to the school's policies on safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Undertake any other duties as required to support the child and the school.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with an EHCP.
- Strong understanding of inclusive education and strategies to support children with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs (desirable).
- First Aid certification (desirable, if not will be provided).

If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, he/she must report any concerns to the School’s DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or to the Headmaster.
