Learning Support Assistant

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen at a school local to the Ipswich area. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work with young people, helping them to get the most from their education.
The school is a specialist provision which has facilities to aid the educational development of its pupils. The facilities include a forest school, outside play equipment, and sensory and soft play areas to help the students regulate their emotions and physical needs when necessary.
The class sizes are small with an average 2:1 ratio in order to support the students with as much one to one as possible. The school day is structured to support its young people in their education and recreational enjoyment, with plenty of sensory breaks and outside play activities.
The Role:
- To support and encourage the students to partake in their education, as supported by the class teacher
- Engage students in extracurricular activities and engage in creativity to keep the school day fun and enjoyable
- Assist at lunch and snack times
- Support students in outside play activities whilst allowing space for independence
- Work alongside therapists such as rebound therapists and music therapists to support the students educational and mental wellbeing
- Supply one to one when possible
- Understand and maintain your safeguarding roles and responsibilities
- Ensure the classroom is a safe and tidy environment in order to facilitate the learning

- Someone who has the ability and want to empathize with all scenarios and understands that the young people's needs are always priority
- A creative individual who will engage in messy play and arts and crafts
- Willing to create strong relationships with staff, students and care providers
- Passionate about working within a school environment ort with SEND/ challenging behaviour
