Residential Children’s Care Worker

Shrewsbury, United Kingdom Shropshire Council Full time

**You won’t just transform the lives of vulnerable children.** **You’ll transform your own.**

**Residential children’s care workers**

**£24,496.00 - £35,941.00 (inclusive of allowances) pay award pending**

Right now, Shropshire’s most vulnerable children and young people need the time, space, love and therapeutic support to overcome their trauma. You can help. Join our residential growth team, and you’ll make an incredible difference to their lives - now, and in the future. But you won’t just transform children’s lives. You’ll transform your own - and your career.

And best of all, you don’t need experience of caring for vulnerable children. You just need to be a naturally caring, resilient person. We’ll give you all the training and support you need to make the most of your career with us, so that you thrive in a supportive work environment where your growth and development matter to all of us.

Shropshire Council’s residential growth programme is a breakthrough in residential care. We currently have six homes across the county, and are currently preparing another. Each home is small, so children have the focused help, care and support they desperately need to transform their lives. Children typically stay with us for a year or two, after which they’re ready to return to their families or foster families, or are ready for adulthood. It’s no wonder that Ofsted rate our homes ‘outstanding and good’.

Caring for vulnerable children can be tough, and there will be lows as well as highs. So as well as being a naturally caring person, you’ll need to be resilient and know what it takes to communicate to children and young people. We’re also looking for the ability to work on your own initiative, as well as part of a team. Above all, you’ll be as passionate as we are about giving children and young people every chance they need to improve their lives.

Sounds like you? Great. In return for all your hard work and commitment, you’ll enjoy a whole host of outstanding benefits. This is much more than a job. It’s a professional career that could take you anywhere within Shropshire Council.

So take the first step. Transform your life and career today.

**Benefits**

Join the Residential Growth team and not only will you embark on a rewarding career. You’ll also enjoy a wide range of excellent employment benefits, including:
**Comprehensive induction training programme**: because we’ll never throw you in at the deep end.

**Access to a wide range of relevant and continuous professional development training opportunities**: because residential growth is about helping you to grow, too.

**Local government pension scheme with a generous employer pension contribution**: because your future matters.

**Consistent rota pattern**: because you deserve consistency in your professional and personal lives.

**Local and national rewards and benefits scheme**: because your hard work deserves to be rewarded.
