This role sits within the Product function in Cabinet Office Digital.

You will join a high performing and cross-functional agile team, amongst digital and development. Squads are multidisciplinary including a User Researcher, Service Designer, Product Manager, Delivery Manager and Technical Lead. Depending on the phase of the product life cycle delivery you may also work with others from the design and development professions. Our squads bring together a unique set of skilled people, capabilities and experience from across HMG and the private sector.

**As a Service Designer your main responsibilities would be**:
Work as part of multidisciplinary agile teams, delivering new or improved services that meet user needs and Cabinet Office policy objectives
analyse and interpret user needs and business objectives in highly complex service areas

Lead on design concepts that help reimagine how services can be delivered end-to-end and identify potential areas of improvement identify opportunities for cost reduction and improvement within an existing service

Understand the existing supporting system of a service and design targeted improvements to that system to accommodate the new service - both digital and process based

Work with user researchers, business analysts and developers to turn concepts into user-centred services

Support design workshops and design sprints with the team, senior stakeholders and users

Create and rapidly iterate low and high-fidelity prototypes to test and communicate ideas with users

Develop and maintain design standards and a pattern library, ensuring patterns and components are consistent, accessible, and easy to use across our digital products and services

**You’ll have relevant experience in**:
A strong grounding and experience in user-centred design, from concept to final delivery.

Knowledge of what good end-to-end public services look like and how to design in an inclusive, accessible way.

Have demonstrable experience of how to interpret user research

Experience of making decisions to meet user needs in the government context and understanding the importance of assisted digital.

The ability to absorb large amounts of conflicting information and use it to produce simple designs, removing complexity from services and solving

problems.

Experience in creating static HTML and CSS prototypes, coding for different screen sizes, versioning and hosting a prototype.

You approach prototyping as a team activity, actively soliciting prototypes and testing with others. You can establish design patterns and iterate

them. You can use a variety of methods of prototyping and choose the most appropriate ones.

Experience of working collaboratively in a dynamic agile environment with user researchers, content designers and business analysts to understand and meet user needs.

The ability to identify and understand constraints and can communicate these and work within them.

The ability to listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders, and interpret them in a way that is clear for both audiences. Experience of managing stakeholder expectations, setting direction and navigating difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders.

Your methods and deliverables will adhere to the Government Digital Standards (GDS) and public sector regulations including accessibility and security.

Must be eligible to undergo SC Clearance- Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas._
