**What you’ll be doing**
- Accountable for defining and building the architectural strategy for Technology Innovation Labs, including live service alignment.
- Provide technical expertise / advice on Edge networks to ensure use of the current-state of network architecture, technology as well as partners is optimised, whilst ensuring alignment to future-state architectures.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, product vendors, other third party service providers and the customer in the strategic design process to translate business needs into solutions suitable for labs.
- Create and review architecture and solution design.
- Accountable for maintaining the architectural principles that satisfy both the internal project demand enabling high quality assurance, proof of concepts and external partnerships and customer service delivery.
- Ownership of the relationship between Innovation labs and design/architectural teams both internally and externally to the BT Group.
- Responsible for design of cross functional end to end solutions to meet the brief of the team or project, including strategic recommendation on value added services and or/guidance on short term cross functional tactical designs.
- Responsible for designing and driving the adoption of emerging technologies for proof of concept activities.
- Responsible for designing and facilitating opportunities to sell labs as a service.
- Taking technical leadership of a skilled deisgn team.
- Design Cloud environments and integrations of services with IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
- Support the build and replication of CI/CD pipeline.

**What you'll bring**
- ESSENTIAL
- Good understanding of the e2e Telecom network, Cloud Networks, cloud native architecture, OSS/BSS systems, network core, IP transport, edge and RAN and industry best practices.
- Experience of designing complex mobile telecom environments, with the ability to document and present highly complex technical issues to a non-technical, senior decision making audience.
- A great communicator who manages stakeholders well; and has experience of inspiring engineering teams to build, maintain and evolve platforms.
- Knowledge of Design Thinking approach along with excellent Oral and Written Communications and Presentation Skills.
- The ability to visualise the end-to-end design of solutions, and work with SME’s to realise a solution.
- Technical expertise in mobile & fixed telecommunications industry in the role of a senior designer or principle engineer, with business critical, high availability/high throughput systems and networks.
- Ability to work with incomplete requirement specifications, resolving ambiguities via discussions with the originating functions (eg Marketing, Wholesale, Products etc).
- Knowledge of Telecom industry best practices, future trends and design patterns for analysing, defining and documenting the link between input business requirements and output technical solutions.
- Work with the lab Security Architect on alignment of Lab Security Solutions.
- Experience of delivering and developing market-leading solutions as required by the business.

- Robust knowledge of technologies, standards and architectures associated with virtualization, containers, public, private as well as hybrid cloud and hyper-converged solutions.
- The ability to understand and track the key technical issues and solutions for multiple, highly complex, project deliveries.
- Negotiating skills, particularly around changing stakeholders opinion.
- Subject matter expert in one or more categories that may include: business strategy, infrastructure architecture, IAM, integration, security, technology, distributed platforms like PaaS services and analytics.
- Knowledge of Cloud Security and Identity services (e.g., Security Center, Active Directory, Access Control, Security Groups etc.
- Understanding of Cloud Networking services (e.g., VNETs, VPNs, Load Balancers, Front Door, Traffic Manager, Content Delivery Net
