Healthworks is one of the largest charities working with local communities across the North East to tackle health inequalities and improve health, wellbeing and life outcomes. Our work has been nationally recognised as making an outstanding contribution to the health and well-being of local communities by the King’s Fund.

We have been successful in gaining funding from North of Tyne Combined Authority which has allowed us to create a new position of Volunteer Co-ordinator. This position has been created with the aim of developing opportunities for individuals based in the outer west to volunteer within Healthworks organisation, giving them the opportunity to develop new skills and gain work experience which will enhance their employability, as well as helping tackle social isolation issues some residents suffer.

This post will also have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Front of House team and reception service where some of the volunteering opportunities will be based.

This role will be based at The Lemington Centre, Tyne View, NE29 9ER but will require the co-ordinator to travel within the area to help recruit volunteers and network this opportunity.

In summary you will
- Lead on recruitment of volunteers from the outer west of the City and establish their areas of interest
- Identify and develop volunteering opportunities with Healthworks liaising with Senior Managers of workstreams where they are embedded
- Match volunteers to suitable opportunities
- Be key contact for volunteers and lead on management, administration, supervision and support of this programme
- Ensure there are suitable, safe tasks assigned with adequate supervision whilst ensuing volunteers get fulfilment within their volunteering role
- Have day-to-day responsibility for the front of house reception service ensuring a high level of performance and accuracy across the team managing a team of staff
- Look way to develop the front of house service to enhance customer experience

We know how important our team is to the amazing work that we do in our local communities. In return we offer;
- 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata) and the opportunity to buy additional leave
- Free membership to both our gyms
- Dedicated staff wellbeing programme
- Training and development opportunities
