As Risks and Issues Manager you will support the project or programme, which will typically be of moderate complexity, to manage risks and issues.

You will achieve this by co-ordinating the identification, documentation, monitoring and reporting of risks and issues in a consistent manner.

You will support the relevant risk or issue owners to identify and develop appropriate mitigation plans, escalating where appropriate.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain the Risk Management Strategy and plan for effective Risk Management by using risk processes and procedures in line with best practice and UKHSA policies.
- Ensure compliance with, and plan continuous improvement of, project delivery risk and issues strategies, processes and procedures within the business area.
- Provide advice on project delivery risks and issues to the Project/Programme Manager and senior leaders.
- Establish a programme of regular risk and issues reviews with key stakeholders.
- Act as point of contact for knowledge and expertise of risk and issue management for the project.
- Support UKHSA in identifying appropriate strategies for dealing with risk and issues.
- Facilitate the identification and monitoring of project delivery risks and issues.
- Perform risk analysis using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Plan and produce periodic and ad-hoc reporting of risk and issues to meet changing demands.
- Establish and maintain the Risk, Issues, Assumptions and Dependencies register for the project.
- Be an active member of the UKHSA Project Delivery Profession Community.
- Undertake any other reasonable requests that are appropriate to your grade that help deliver the demands placed upon the Performance and Partnerships team.

Working to the G7 Risk and Performance, you will lead the assurance of risk and issue management across DS&S, including working on the preparation on assurance reports and Management information for senior leaders. You will ensure secretariat support isprovided to the monthly Risk Leads forum. This will include ensuring the preparation of agenda, presentation packs are collated and distributed, and ensuring that accurate minutes are taken and distributed.

Assisted by your Line Manager and others you will work with risks owners to ascertain the most effective way to manage risks, providing expert guidance and support to them, so that the overall risks for DA&S are managed effectively and efficiently. You willalso work with the Cyber security and SIRO teams to ensure that all risks are managed effectively and that they are reported to the relevant governance bodies in a timely and effective manner.

In addition to working within the Risk team, you will have the opportunity to work across the Performance and Partnerships team, supporting other stakeholders in work appropriate to your grade. This may include working with stakeholders on the Public Inquiryrelating to Covid or working with governance partners on the governance of DA&S.

Additionally, you will be required to make decisions and take actions when ambiguity exists. The role requires a self-starter with an eye for detail, who has the confidence to navigate, with support, a complex stakeholder and solution environment, to delivertransformative change.

**Essential skills**:

- Significant experience of risk and issue management in a project or programme environment or evidence of appropriate skills that have been gathered in a non-project environment.
- Working knowledge of governance and project delivery frameworks and methodologies.
- Awareness of business change and implementation, quality management, assurance and change control.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work well under pressure, with multiple tasks, in a fast-changing and ambiguous environment, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and use large, complex and often incomplete data sets
- Excellent presentation, briefing and drafting skills.

- PRINCE2 Foundation - Management of Risk Foundation
- PRINCE2 Practitioner - Management of Risk Practitioner
- APM Project Fundamentals
- APM Project Management Qualification

If not holding any of the above, the applicant must be willing to achieve one of the above in their first year of employment.
