We’re looking for a Collections Assistant to join our team at Kedleston Hall to deliver high quality collections management and care and support our evolving visitor experience offer.

**Hours**:21.5 hours per week

As a Collections Assistant, you’ll work as part of a team with 2 other Collections Assistants and you'll report to the Senior Collections and House Officer. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll also work closely with two Collections and House Officers who will provide support and training. You’ll be responsible for leading Collections Care and Conservation Volunteers.

What you'll be doing:As a Collections Assistant, you’ll be the eyes and ears of the house and collection responsible for the day-to-day cleaning and hands-on care of over 9,000 objects. Attention to detail is key and you’ll keep a close eye on everything from the environmental conditions in a room, to signs of wear and tear. You’ll keep accurate records too, including using our Collections Management System and completing object condition reports.

You’ll deliver engaging ‘conservation-in-action’ for our visitors and championing excellent service at every opportunity.

This is an operational role based at Kedleston Hall and you will be required to work across 7 days, covering 1 in 3 weekends. The shifts are usually 3 full days (2 days 8am-4pm and 1 day 8am - 3pm), working on different days each week but there is some flexibility in this if required.

Who we're looking forWe'd love to hear from you if you have;
- A keen interest in history, historic properties and conservation of their collections
- A good understanding of preventive conservation
- Knowledge of the approach required when working with fragile historic collections as well as Health & Safety and emergency procedures
- Good manual dexterity and eye-to-hand skills and ability to work from ladders and tower scaffold
- The ability to support volunteers to perform at their best
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, and are a great team player
- A willingness to undertake continuing professional development and personal skills development and have an enthusiasm to learn
