**Position**: Support Services Officer (Highway Services)

**Reporting to**: Senior Support Services Officer

**About Us**:Join our team as a **Support Services Officer (Highway Services)** and play a crucial role in providing technical, project-based, and administrative support to the Highway Services management team. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our front-line staff, ensuring smooth service delivery to our community.

**Role Overview**:As a Support Services Officer within Highway Services, you'll be responsible for providing a wide range of administrative and technical support to the senior management team. Your role will contribute to the success of projects, maintain records, and facilitate efficient communication and coordination.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide technical and project-based administrative support to Highway Services senior managers
- Maintain files, records, reports, room bookings, and meeting minutes
- Collaborate with Support Services staff to ensure efficient support for front-line teams
- Assist managers with resources such as spreadsheets, charts, reports, and external data
- Manage IT bookings and set up equipment for meetings
- Ensure confidentiality while handling confidential reports and information
- Contribute to the professional and proactive approach of the Highway Services team

- Ensure quality standards, performance, and service quality are monitored and maintained
- Establish and manage team communication systems for effective information sharing
- Uphold professional practice standards aligned with service objectives
- Manage health and safety in line with relevant policies and procedures
- Provide vision and leadership within the team, ensuring effective systems and policies are in place
- Manage budgets (if applicable) to ensure value for money and financial control
- Embrace equality and diversity principles and promote a just society
- Maintain confidentiality and security of information in compliance with policies
- Participate in the induction program to become effective in your role

**Person Specification**:

- **Qualification**: NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent (essential)
- **Experience**: Experience in administrative support services and ability to work independently (essential)
- **Skills/Knowledge**: Practical knowledge of local government administration processes, excellent communication, and IT proficiency (essential)
- **Personal Qualities**: Positive attitude, flexibility, and proactive approach (essential)

**Desirable Qualifications and Experience**:

- Experience in electronic system development and Oracle
- Familiarity with Civil Engineering and Construction activities
- Typing Qualification

**Desirable Skills/Knowledge**:

- Knowledge of data protection act and Highway working practices
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems

**Job Type**: Temporary contract

**Salary**: £10.98 per hour
