**Background to the Post**
This role encompasses the management of the student residential provision at Moreton Morrell and Royal Leamington Spa Colleges. The post holder will also oversee the welfare, including safeguarding and discipline, of all residential students based at these Colleges.
The residential team consists of Senior Residential Support Officers at both Moreton Morrell and Royal Leamington Spa, Residential Support Officers, Bar and Social Manager and a team of residential wardens.
This post will report to the Director of Student Services as part of this directorate along with the cross college provision of Careers, Welfare, Libraries and Reception services.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
2. To oversee the appropriate allocation of accommodation available to students at Royal Leamington Spa and Moreton Morrell Colleges in accordance with College policy and procedures and provide informative ‘joining’ instructions to residential students
3. To manage the supervision of students in residence in accordance with the standards set by the College and ensure that the National Minimum Standards are achieved and surpassed. Coordinating welfare support for students, including those at risk to themselves or others, and use professional expertise and judgement to develop innovative solutions to resolve student issues/problems.
4. To provide first aid and a GP referral service ensuring that there is adequate care of sick students maintaining liaison with parents/guardians and keeping detailed records.
5. To ensure the residential wardens via the Senior Residential Support Officer are covering duties and events as necessary for the safety and wellbeing of residential students and support the residential team in dealing with out of hours emergency calls that require escalation.
6. To liaise with College academic management at Moreton Morrell and Royal Leamington Spa to ensure that discipline and welfare standards are maintained and implemented following College policies and procedures
7. To be responsible for ensuring that the Residential Bursary Scheme is made available to eligible students, allocating awards as per the policy which is reviewed annually
8. To manage student and parent feedback systems and encourage dialogue with parents
9. Ensure that all information relating to accommodation services (whether in print or online) is accurate and up to date and ensure that information about accommodation services (both on-site and off-campus) is regularly updated and distributed to potential applicants
10. To contribute to the evaluation and development of College policies and procedures in respect of Residential Accommodation
11. To ensure that students’ residential accommodation meets the necessary standards and that any maintenance issues are logged with the Estates team. Additionally to work with the Estates department in developing an on-going maintenance/refurbishment programme for the residential buildings at Moreton Morrell and Royal Leamington Spa
12. To manage staff under your control, carrying out performance reviews, identifying training needs and supporting as necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the service
13. With the residential team, ensure that the evening social functions within halls of residence are well managed and that students and other guests adhere to the Code of Conduct.
14. To operate the College Disciplinary Procedures and implement appropriate agreed sanctions when necessary and encourage good relations between the College and the local community.
15. To oversee the management of summer residential bookings and ensure that appropriate staffing levels are in place.
16. To complete an annual self-assessment and quality improvement plan for the residential provision in conjunction with the Residential Services Manager at Pershore College.
17. To liaise with the International Office when receiving new international students and with Marketing, Admissions and curriculum teams to support college events including open events
18. As a Designated Safeguarding Officer, to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and whom you come into contact with
19. In liaison with finance, enrolments and the welfare team, ensure appropriate staffing is in place for the residential student enrolment programme. Organise an appropriate induction programme for residential staff and students, including introduction to internal and external support services, health and safety policy and procedures, fire drills and the student code of conduct and disciplinary procedure.
20. To effectively manage the budget for residential services in conjunction with the Director of Student Services, identifying opportunities to maximise income and reduce costs. Supporting the finance team by monitoring and taking action where needed on credit control with student debtors
