South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and experienced **Facilities Team Leader** to join their dynamic team. This pivotal role involves the day-to-day management, supervision, and coordination of a comprehensive 24-hour Facilities Service across our main hospital sites and Jeannette Wallace House. The Facilities Team Leader will provide first-line management, ensuring that staff are working effectively, and services are delivered to the highest standards.
The role requires working a shift pattern of four days on, four days off, from 7 am to 7 pm. The position is primarily based at one of the key sites, with potential travel to other sites, as necessary.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Staff Management**: Oversee up to 25 staff, ensuring appropriate training, development, appraisals, and supervision. Manage absence, performance, and resolve staffing issues promptly.
- **Planning and Organising**: Plan and coordinate team workload, ensuring efficient use of resources. Delegate tasks related to waste management, ward removals, mail delivery, and more.
- **Resource Management**: Maintain and manage departmental assets, ensuring they are operational and safe. Promote sustainability and cost-effective use of resources.
- **Service Management**: Liaise with service users, address day-to-day enquiries, and ensure high standards in reception and security services. Organise deliveries and coordinate with community sites as needed.
- **Health and Safety**: Foster a culture of health, safety, and well-being. Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, conduct risk assessments, and maintain records of incidents and accidents.
**Essential Qualifications and Experience**:
- GCE/GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Full driving licence (PSV licence or equivalent, as applicable to site)
- SIA licence - CCTV preferred but Door Supervisor or Guarding acceptable.
- Management/Supervisory experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation relevant to the service
- Ability to train others and maintain high standards.
**Desirable Qualifications and Experience**:
- A Level in Maths and/or English or equivalent
- Relevant Supervisory or Management qualification
- Experience working in an NHS environment, particularly mental health.
- Practical experience in portering, reception, and security roles
- Relevant Health & Safety training (e.g., manual handling, risk assessment, fire safety, COSHH, PPE, Infection Control)
