**Job summary**:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the MOD’s Strategic Supplier Management team, which manages the relationship with MOD’s Strategic Suppliers, and includes influencing behaviours to improve the quality of the Defence supply chain as part of the government’s wider commitment to growth and enterprise.

The role and construct of the Defence Suppliers Forum (DSF) is continuously evolving to strengthen the MOD’s relationship and senior-level engagement with the Defence industry, with a focus on leveraging tangible benefits and outcomes.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
The Defence Suppliers Forum (DSF) strategic engagement between Government and the Defence Industry is the primary engagement mechanism to facilitate the effective sharing of information, aligning our objectives and optimising the delivery of Defence capability from the Defence budget. Within the Defence landscape we expect the future to bring continued and significant change, including in technology, military doctrine, and the economic environment. The Joint Industry 2025 Vision recognises that there is a need for improved pace and agility and for the joint approach to defence capability to be markedly different. The DSF is central to delivering the Vision and its work therefore aims to create a more collaborative, but also demanding, approach to MOD’s relationship with Industry, in order to deliver more within the funding envelope. Alongside its role in delivering the agreed programme of work the DSF is also central to supporting agile joint government/industry responses to significant national issues, including epidemics and emergencies. The DSF groups membership includes senior officials from MOD and other government departments and representatives from MOD’s strategic and mid-tier suppliers, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.

This is a varied role and the postholder will work as part of the DSF Programme Management Office, providing administrative and performance support to the DSF, including the DSF Main (chaired by Secretary of State for Defence) and the Executive group (jointly chaired by senior leaders in industry and MOD). The postholder will take a leading role in developing a performance management dashboard to track progress and delivery of outcomes and will also support a number of DSF sub-groups tasked with specific programmes of work, capturing notes and actions in meetings when required.

**Person specification**:
Specific activities will include the following:

- Develop a programme management tool and governance
- PMO DSF Security Steering Group lead including secretariat to monthly meetings
- Lead for the Annual DSF Survey and development of a joint action plan
- Develop a mapping tool to demonstrate cross Defence DSF relationships and governance
- DSF Group mailbox and calendar management
- Secretariat support to additional DSF workstreams

Desirable Criteria
- Experience of using and a good awareness of Power BI
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good administrative skills and ability to capture notes and actions within DSF meetings
- Experience of managing stakeholders
- Good influencing and communication skills

Experience in using other programme management/data capture tools is desirable. The postholder will also need to demonstrate flexibility to support wider work across the team. There is likely to be travel to London.

Development Opportunities

The postholder will have the opportunity to develop secretariat and programme/project management skills, plus gain a broad knowledge of the defence supply base and the government’s prosperity agenda. There will also be an opportunity to prepare Ministerial Submissions and briefings for senior leaders, and to support the wider work across the team.
