**Salary**: £32,000 pa

**Days of work**: Monday - Friday

**Hours**: 9 am - 6 pm

**Holiday**: 28 days pro rata including bank holidays per annum

**About us**

Midsummer House has become one of the country’s most acclaimed destination restaurants, combining outstanding seasonal ingredients and Michelin-starred cooking in a relaxing and elegant dining room. It is housed in a beautiful Victorian villa, in the middle of Midsummer Common on the banks of the River Cam in Cambridge.

For over twenty years, passion and creativity have shaped the menu at Midsummer House, offering a contemporary British dining experience of the highest quality. Daniel Clifford’s astonishingly creative, flawlessly executed dishes, focus on purity of flavour and reverence for ingredients.

Diners travel far and wide to experience their lunch and eight-course tasting menus. Midsummer House was awarded its first Michelin star in 2002, followed by a second in 2005. The restaurant also proudly holds five AA rosettes.

We are looking for a Senior Operations Administrator to join our team at Midsummer House to ensure that the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably while not only maintaining its reputation and ethos but also improving it.

**The role**

The Senior Operations Administrator will assist and support the Business Partners in running the operation of Midsummer House, ensuring compliance with all Statutory Law with particular regard to Health and Safety; optimising profitability; ensuring and developing good client relationships; improving communications across the company.

Provide reports and information as required by other members of the Senior Management Team.

Working in a similar restaurant environment and understanding of the business is essential for this role.

**Key Responsibilities**

Management
- Responsible for managing the recruitment, interviewing, inducting, training and appraisal of staff members in accordance with Midsummer House policies and procedures.
- Identifying and addressing training needs for all staff.
- Agreeing and setting aims and objectives in line with the business plan.
- Responsible for ensuring that the Standard Operating Manual is adhered to.
- Ensure that the personal development of individuals is monitored to maximise their benefit to the business.
- To attend training and personal development courses as requested by the company ensuring full and active participation.
- To ensure that sales targets are met without detriment to client spend per head.
- Plan and deliver operational functions as required.

**Sales, Customers and Client**
- Ensuring a high standard of service and customer service is delivered at all times.
- Analyse Client and Venue Feedback Forms and other Client Feedback, ensure in conjunction with the Partner that we address service issues and develop standards and products in line with customer needs. Respond to and resolve customer complaints within set time frames.
- Recommend modifications to systems and practices to improve customer service.

**Financial Reporting and Planning**
- In conjunction with Midsummer House Management Accountant, ensure that all weekly, monthly and year end procedures are carried out to provide timely and accurate information.
- Financial forecasting, calculating G.P’s, setting prices, monitoring and agreeing targets with Partner and conveying those to the team. Roll out KPI’s to all Midsummer House Events venues.
- Ensure all financial data is filled out and sent to Accounts on the correct day, checking the accuracy of returns.
- Ensure Group procedures on ordering of goods and services are followed.
- To optimise profitability.
- To ensure unit turnover and profit targets are met.
- To assist and advise the Partner in the setting of annual budgets and present these to clients in a professional manner once agreed.
- To report on budget variances to the Partner.
- To provide timely reporting for all operations, such reports to present actuals/forecast/variances recovery plans, action plans, pricing or any other financial report required.

**Communication**
- To communicate effectively with suppliers, verbally, face to face and in writing.
- Responsible for holding and recording client and management meetings.
- Responsible for effectively communicating with staff on all levels.

**Health and Safety**
- Comply and ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements for Health & Safety, Fire and Food Handling and ensure that all members of the team are aware of and working in accordance with these requirements.
