The Caversham Group Practice is a very busy GP Practice in Kentish Town looking after the health needs of almost 17,000.00 Patients.

We are recruiting new colleagues to join our administrative team (Practice Assistants).

You will be based between the Front of House team and the administration team. You will initially be trained in general reception duties as a foundation.
Your primary role will to work as a GP practice receptionist ruining a busy desk and telephone switch board as well as processing new registrations and prescriptions on a daily basis.
Once you mastered the fundamentals of the role your tasks will expand to include administrative activities such as preparing medical reports, managing patient referrals and "call and recall" - contact patients and encourage them to attend the practice for health checks, organise annual reviews of their chronic illness and accept other health care promotions such as seasonal vaccinations.
You will be trained to look at the patient as a whole person and plan appointments to maximise the benefit to the patient and to be as efficient as possible with regards to the practice resources to provide excellent patient care while also achieving NHS targets outcomes.
As a team you will be working towards national and local targets measured by KPIs as well as a wide range of administrative tasks.
**Salary**: £11.49 per hour for the first 6 months while in probationary period, there after pay rises to £12.54 upon successful completion of probation.

- Are happy to work in a Health Care setting where patients are being seen face to face and you will be their first contact with the practice.
- You are available to work Monday - Friday on site at the practice. This is not a hybrid or work from home role.
You can work specific shift pattern we operate - 8am and 8pm. (shifts are currently 8am or 10:30 starts for full time team members or 8am and 13:30 starts for part time team members. We currently close at 6:30 bit there is future potential to need to work until 8pm on an occasional basis for late night appointments. You must be able to work a mixed shift pattern of these hours Monday to Friday)
- Can work occasional Saturdays with notice provided if required by the practice. (Approximately 2 or 3 a year)

**Job summary**:
The purpose of the role is to:
- Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care, and other associated healthcare agencies.
**Duties and responsibilities**:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice reception and administration team “Practice assistants” may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the practice manager/ operations managers, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels.

**General**
- Completing Recalls to achieve Practices local and National targets
- reception duties as needed such as staffing the practice front desk, Switchboard telephony, registering new patients and prescription handling as rostered.
- Dealing with all aspects of administrative tasks and assisting other members of the team in managing administration workload as required to meet turnaround targets.
- Dealing with daily administration lists and mail inboxes, admin lists and docman tasks both your own and your teams inboxes (telephoning hospitals to chase up patient referrals or patient results or booking transport for patients attending hospital etc).
- Chaperoning clinical examinations
- Summarising of medical records & GP2GP
- Scanning and work flowing “optimising” incoming post.
- SNOMED Coding of patient’s records
- Attending staff meetings when required
- Maintaining training and skills to facilitate the role.
