The role of the Business Support Officer (BSO) is vital to the efficient, proactive, and smooth running of service delivery within the Sector.

The post holder will report to Deputy Director of Commercial Services and will be accountable for ensuring that the Trust has appropriate support for its Directorates in place, together with sufficient systems and processes to enable the Board to meet all relevant operational performance standards.

The post holder will provide business support to the Deputy Director of Commercial Services and the local Senior Management Team. In addition, they will aid with the day-to-day operational issues within the Team.

The post holder will be expected to seek out good practice from other organisations against which the Trust can benchmark itself, and to support the Senior Managers in creating an environment of innovation, excellence, and performance.

The post holder will provide business support to the Deputy Director of Commercial Services and the local Senior Management Team. In addition, they will aid with the day-to-day operational issues within the Team.

The post holder will be expected to seek out good practice from other organisations against which the Trust can benchmark itself, and to support the Senior Managers in creating an environment of innovation, excellence, and performance.

The role will be responsible for planning, supporting, and facilitating progress of defined programmes of work on behalf of the Senior Managers, as well as diary and inbox management, if required.

It is essential the BSO has complete knowledge and understanding of the Senior Managers’ workloads, and the complexities of the different areas of responsibility, to be able to advise, prepare and manage projects on behalf of the Senior Managers and their office. They must be capable of making decisions on behalf of the Senior Managers and be accountable for those decisions.

The complex and sensitive work and information within the office of the Senior Managers means there is often commercial and political ramifications of decisions made. It is the job of the BSO to manage these through to final conclusions in a proactive way with mínimal direction.

EEAST employs over 5,000 staff with a further 1,000+ volunteers who between them cover 7,500 square miles and care for a population of more than 6 million.

Our three control rooms in Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Essex handle more than 1 million 999 calls every year, over 2,500 calls a day.

We manage a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles including double staffed ambulances, rapid response cars, operational commander response vehicles, patient transport and support service vehicles.

The East of England works alongside 17 Acute Trusts with Accident & Emergency services and a Major Trauma Centre in Cambridge. Access is available to neighbouring MTCs such as those in London.
