St John's Academy Nursery, Perth

We are seeking a highly qualified and skilled Principal Early Childhood Practitioner with expertise in early childhood learning and development, to join our management team at St John's Academy (Nursery).

As a part of the management team, the role is to work alongside the Depute Head Teacher and Nursery Teacher to respond to the individual needs of our children and families and support the delivery of high quality learning and development.

You will lead on supporting children who face disadvantages and reinforce the ambition to close the attainment gap. This includes supporting the training and development of our staff team.

You will assist in the management of the service for the benefit of all children, families and the wider community.

The successful post holder will have relevant experience in a range of early years settings and have completed or be working towards degree level, BA Childhood Practice (or equivalent). You must be able to register as a Lead Practitioner with SSSC, within 6 months of appointment and adhere to all elements of the SSSC Employee Codes of Practice and Perth and Kinross employee standards.

**The Individual**:
You will have excellent communication skills and lead the effective delivery and development of the literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing curriculum to improve children’s attainment. You will improve confidence, skills, knowledge and pedagogical practice of practitioners and increase parental engagement in children’s family learning.

You must be able to work on your own initiative and as a team member who directly contributes to and supports colleagues in the development of a flexible early learning and childcare service, which is appropriate to the needs of young children and their families in St John's and its surrounding community, within the context of authority and nursery policies and procedures.

You will have responsibilities for self-evaluation, improvement planning and quality assurance across the Centre. We are proud of the very strong relationships we have with partner agencies and so a role in our Centre will require you to collaborate with other professionals on a daily basis.
