The role of HR Assistant is essential to ensuring the employee experience of Opera North is one that is inclusive, engaging, and enjoyable.

The role does this by managing the effective and efficient administration of the HR processes from recruitment and onboarding to day-to-day employee support.

**Main Purpose of the Job**

The HR Assistant is an important role providing a wide range of HR and diversity-related support across the company. At the heart of this is the ability to maintain accurate and efficient systems to support recruitment and management of staff.

The assistant also provides support to colleagues on inclusivity activity, helping to create a workplace culture in line with Opera North's values.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Issuing all necessary new starter materials and carrying out right to work and reference checks.
- Liaising with recruiting managers to arrange IT access for new joiners in advance of their joining dates.
- Coordinating new starter on-boarding processes, ensuring all paperwork is produced, completed and actioned/filed correctly and that new staff are welcomed and well-orientated.
- Completing administration for job changes and leaver processes.
- Keeping all relevant HR employee records updated, ensuring they are accurate at all times and maintained in accordance with GDPR.
- Working with the Head of People Management and Development to produce management information and statistics as and when required.
- Raising purchase orders, coding all HR invoices, handling queries, and maintaining accurate records.
- Providing administration for salary review changes for non-unionised staff
- Carrying out administration for any learning and development activities as needed
- Carrying out all relevant benefits administration in liaison with the Payroll Manager and providing general advice to staff on other company benefits.
- Providing administrative support and policy guidance on grievance, disciplinary and redundancy issues as appropriate.
- Providing end-to-end talent attraction and recruitment support, including advertising roles, raising purchase orders and co-ordinating shortlisting in line with Equality Act, using the Hireful Applicant Tracking System
- Maintaining ownership of the appointments inbox and answering any recruitment-related queries.
- Producing recruitment metrics as requested by the Head of People Management and Development or senior management.
- Co-ordinating and taking minutes for the Inclusivity & Relevance Committee.
- Acting as an ambassador for Opera North as part of diversity-related careers events when required.
- Supporting and collating workforce data for the annual Arts Council England survey.
- Supporting the Head of People Management and Development on people-related projects from time to time.
- Undertaking learning and personal development to meet business needs.
- Undertaking any other reasonable responsibilities, commensurate with the level of the post, so as to ensure the smooth running of the department

**Skills, Knowledge and Personal Attributes**
- You'll need to be confident using Microsoft Office packages.
- You'll have good communication skills, have a flexible approach to work, good attention to detail and enjoy problem solving.

This is an early career role so you don't need HR experience as we will provide training, support and professional development through the CIPD.
