An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Complaints Coordinator to join the Complaints and Patient Experience Team here at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be based a within the Complaints and Patient Experience team. The role covers all Clinical Service Units (CSUs) across planned and unplanned care services and will involve working across all trust sites.

You will have a significant level of previous experience of working in a complaints team, with demonstrable knowledge and an understanding of the relevant statutory NHS legislation. An outstanding communicator, you will be able to deal confidently and compassionately with a wide range of service users, including the public, advocates, other agencies and staff within the organisation at all levels, and provide expert advice to staff and the public alike. Given the nature of the work, the ability to effectively manage challenging situations and behaviours’ is crucial.

You will manage a defined case load of complaints, but will need to be adaptable and flexible to meet the wider needs of the service, providing cross-cover as required. The ability to work independently and creatively while demonstrating political awareness is essential. You will need an enquiring mind and excellent analytical and report writing skills. Attention to detail and proof reading skills are also required.

The Complaints Coordinator will also be required to participate in the delivery and facilitation of staff training.

To support the Directors of Nursing, in the delivery of a proactive and effective Complaints and Patient Experience service.

To work without supervision and use own initiative to ensure the correct level of support is provided within the Complaints and Patient Experience service.

To liaise with patients, family members, external bodies, and members of staff at all levels in a confident and professional manner.

To deliver effective data and information to assist in the improvement of Complaints and Patient Experience.

To communicate with staff at all levels within the Trust; individuals at external organisations; patients and relatives

To improve Complaints and Patient Experience by facilitating complaint awareness sessions and patient experience workshops.
