South West London Pathology is an award winning pathology partnership between four leading Hospital Trusts - St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, and Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals - designed to provide an integrated, high quality pathology service for hospitals and GPs across South West London, by bringing together the best of each Trust’s service and providing them within a single organisation.

The Role

This post is based at Croydon University Hospital Clinical Blood Sciences Laboratory (CBS). However, you will be expected to work at any of the SWLP sites as and when required.

Croydon University Hospital Laboratory operates a 24hr shift system providing cover to a busy A&E and acute services. The Laboratory is equipped with ACL Top 550, Beckman Coulter DxH 900 with AutoMate 1200 for pre/post analytics Haematology and coagulation services, as well as Immucor IRIS for automated Blood Transfusion services.

The state-of-the-art hub laboratories at St Georges and St Helier Hospitals will also offer further specialist experience in blood coagulation, haemoglobin electrophoresis, flow cytometry, HPLC and mass spectrometry.

The Croydon University Hospital CBS Laboratory is UKAS accredited and has IBMS approval for training Biomedical Scientists to registration and specialist BMS level.

You will be expected to rotate in haematology and blood transfusion departments to maintain competences.
