**Job description**
Job Summary:
To work under direct or indirect supervision of the nursing staff, providing:
- Support the team to deliver high quality patient centred care.
- To understand and follow the surgery policies and procedures.
- Acknowledge limitations and seek advice / support when necessary.
- To work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
**Clinical Duties and Responsibilities**:
- To assist with the maintenace of patient safety at all times.
- Assist in delivering a high standard of holistic care to patients, recognising their individuality, and promoting privacy and dignity.
- Implementing holistic, culturally sensitive, respectful, non-judgmental care from a pre-determined care plan for patients with a wide range of care needs
- Sterilising equipment and restocking consulting rooms
- Taking blood samples and sending them to the lab
- Monitoring patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations, and weight
- Blood Pressure Checks
- Delivering NHS Health Checks.
- Recording 12 lead ECG
- Diabetic Checks
- Prediabetes checks
- Phlebotomy
- New Patient Health Checks
- Dressings
- Administering B12, shingles and pneumonia vaccines.
- Home visits
- To be aware of and comply with all relevant policies and guidelines.
- To receive and follow instruction on the correct and safe use of all equipment relevant to your job and the procedures for reporting faults with this equipment.
- To assist with the maintenance of stock levels.
- To be flexible in staffing situations where possible.
- Carry out duties in an efficient and helpful manner to maximise benefit for patients and visitors, colleagues, and self to promote the clinic and the unit.
- To carry out delegated tasks recognising limitations of competence and decline any duties or responsibilities that you feel unable to perform in a safe manner.
- To behave in a professional manner at all times
- Deal with general enquiries and provide information as required.
- To comply with confidentiality policy; to understand the importance of and implications to the patients and practices if breached. To project a positive and professional image of the GPSU and practices and to report problems as necessary.
- To comply with Data Protection Act requirements for confidentiality of patient information.
- To participate and contribute to regular and practice Meetings were deemed necessary.
- To understand the importance of Health and Safety, to familiarise yourself with and follow all Practice protocols and procedures reporting back problems to line managers immediately.
- To deal with all users of the service e.g. patients, health professionals and family members in a professional manner, taking care and time to acknowledge and understand their needs.
- To adhere to non-discriminatory policies and to treat patients and work colleagues with courtesy and respect.
- To promote good team working conditions and understand the needs of the other team members.
- To follow relevant procedure in calling for the appropriate level of assistance in an emergency.
- To work in accordance with Practice policies and guidelines at all times.
- To always adhere to the practice Policy, in particular ensuring there are no breaches of confidentiality.
- To work flexibly and effectively within the Practice teams so that essential priority tasks are covered and dealt with.
- Other duties as may be required in accordance with this grade of post.
**Personal Specification**:
- Experience Essential Experience of dealing with public.
- Understanding of confidentiality and disclosing information Knowledge and use of Microsoft work, System One, ICE.
- Ability to work under pressure, worked. Desirable.
- Experience of working in a GP practice Knowledge of patient administration systems worked as a Healthcare Assistant.
- Qualifications GCSE grades in English & Maths Qualified to NVQ level 2 / 3.
