You will be joining the Development Team within Highways, a successful, supportive, and collaborative team with a wealth of experience.

**What you can expect to be doing**:
This diverse and exciting role includes providing specialist technical advice, coordinating activity with third parties to deliver a range of projects and/or services including:
implementing the Council's Advanced Payments Code,
technical reviews and inspections,
developing innovative, practical transport initiatives to deliver transport infrastructure to support sustainable economic development, housing growth, new local and neighbourhood plans,
you will also play a key part in working with a range of partners and organisations to support sustainable travel and create safe, healthy and people friendly places.

**About you**:
Experience of working within a highway related discipline, with an excellent ability to follow procedures and evaluate problems. You will be able to work in a team environment, with good communication skills and customer service.

Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable and will demonstrate your commitment to continuous professional development and that you have gained significant post qualification experience within this field.

This position has a travel requirement. This means that there is a requirement to have access to a vehicle or have suitable access to other forms of transport such as public transport (where appropriate), car sharing or use of pool cars.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
