A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, compassionate and forward-thinking midwife to become a Pastoral Support Midwife, supporting the Midwifery Recruitment and Retention activities at UCLH on a fixed term 12-month contract.

The post holder will lead on developing a pastoral care programme for UCLH newly registered and returning midwives; Internationally Educated, Preceptorship Midwives and Return to Practice.

The post holder will support the Recruitment and Retention Lead Midwife and Maternity Education Team to develop and implement new approaches to midwifery retention, based on contemporary evidence about what matters to midwives and influences their decisions to stay or leave.

The post holder will work across divisions with key stakeholders in midwifery, Management, and clinical areas; sharing information, knowledge and providing support, advice and guidance on pastoral care.

The post holder will work closely with the Maternity Education Team, providing support to Internationally Educated Midwives throughout their training and supporting adaptation into the workforce.

The post holder will support in the provision of monthly and ad hoc reports to provide progress against our midwifery learners.

The post holder will be expected to maintain a clinical profile whilst developing staff.

The post holder will contribute to the development and delivering of opportunities for midwife led research and audit in relation to Midwifery workforce issues.

To develop your own portfolio of pastoral, educational and clinical interests.
