Have you got what it takes to contribute to this exciting B7 SLT opportunity to support Children and Young People (CYP) within the Youth Offending Service (YOS) in Derby City Council as a result of new funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner?
You will be developing a new service provision working with multi-agency teams including Police Officers, Probation Officers, Social Workers, Psychologists, Family Support Workers and Substance Misuse Workers. There is an established SLT role in neighbouring Derbyshire County Council YOS who is also employed by our service and there would be an expectation to collaborate, share ideas and resources.
You will design, adapt, and implement training and support to enhance understanding of and develop strategies for supporting CYP with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN). There will be an opportunity to work with YOS staff and CYP in a variety of settings including secure establishments, courts, and schools, supporting assessment and intervention packages offered to these young people.
We are looking for an HCPC and RCSLT registered Speech and Language Therapist, with developed skills, working with CYP with complex backgrounds and needs,. You will be able to demonstrate leadership skills in developing service provision and clinical pathways relating to this specialism. You will have a commitment to providing a high standard of patient focussed care and be a strong team player, with the ability to lead and influence others.
You will be employed by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS FT as part of their SLT service and as such have access to a team of colleagues with a range of skills and commitment to providing high standards of evidence based approaches, you will be supported by an SLT team leader and liaise with the established SLT in the neighbouring YOS. We are a large and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy service of over 100 staff, working across all service areas in Derbyshire.
You will have a base in Derby City, with scope for some working from home in line with hybrid models of working post Covid
Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.
We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people’s own homes and via virtual consultations.
During the pandemic response we have led the implementation of public vaccination centres in collaboration with partners across health and social care.
