West Design Products is an industry leading, family-owned manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler and innovator of quality art, craft, stationery, toy and education products. We exclusively supply the trade, supporting our customers with a team of field and office-based Account Managers.
We operate out of three sites, with our HQ and distribution centre in Kent, our creative design hub in Dorset and our UK manufacturing site in Devon. We’re proud to serve the UK, European and Global markets.
We are looking for a new HR & Payroll Officer to join us on our journey by supporting the Company and our employees with an inclusive, family orientated and growth orientated HR and payroll service.
**Summary**
HR & Payroll Officer - office based in Folkestone (no remote working)
£30000 FTE (Pro rata - £24,000)
Part time (30 hrs per week, would consider 4 days per week)
20 days holiday per year + bank holidays (Pro rata for part time hrs)
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller you will be responsible for delivering the complete HR and Payroll service for approximately 115 employees over 3 sites. You will be able to call on support from a retained HR consultancy for complex ER matters.
Guide and coach managers through the employee life cycle with timely support, such as recruitment, induction, performance, absence management, disciplinary and grievance.
You will need to be able run payroll from setting up new starters for monthly pay, through to P45, P60, year end and upload pension reports and payments. The role also manages other employee benefits (life assurance, EAP) and benefits in kind (P11D, P46 Car).
Keep HR policies and procedures simple and fit for purpose; linking to updates in employment law and the Company's strategic vision. Support employees and managers in bringing the policies to life. Contribute to organisational design, structure, skills and workflow strategy.
Maintain accurate and GDPR compliant records and contracts of employment that can be easily converted into useful data to support decision making. Be the lead administrator for our Astrow Time and Attendance platform.
**About You**
Will need previous hands on HR experience, ideally in a distribution or manufacturing business.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; with solid MS Office knowledge.
Not essential but knowledge on HRIS/Payroll software. Able to learn new systems.
Confident, resilient, self starting people person with empathy, but able to challenge poor behaviour and practice if necessary.
CIPD Level 3-5 would be ideal, as would some formal payroll training.
