The role of AHP workforce lead is to plan and implement strategies to improve the organisations AHP workforce along with providing hands on advice and support for AHP professional leads to support recruitment and retentions across the AHP workforce.

We are looking for an autonomous practitioner, who is driven, has high emotional intelligence and good organisation awareness, to take on the role of AHP workforce lead.

The role reports into the Head of therapies and is accountable to the Director of nursing, midwifery and AHPs.

The post holder will review the workforce requirements for registered & non registered AHP workforce across the trust and recommend and implement strategic changes for the organization.

The post holder will work with departmental managers to explore and implement initiatives to improve recruitment and retention within the workforce. Including; apprenticeship, preceptorship, international recruitment and create advertisement of jobs/use of social media.

**The AHP professions employed by NGH include**: Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Therapeutic & diagnostic Radiographers, Orthoptists and Operating Department Practitioner.

In addition to providing advice and sign posting to AHP professions employed by NHFT, working at NGH include; Dieticians and Speech and language therapists.

**The post holder will**:
Lead on the development and promotion allied health professional workforce supply and demand at local and regional level. Reporting on finding and progress to AHP managers and AHP lead, as well as liaising with ICS stakeholders, presenting at AHP council and feeding in AHP faculty and Education and supply board. This ultimately will inform decisions made by the system at people board

Review and carry out highly complex assessments of the AHP workforce at NGH - Reviewing ESR data, engaging with the AHP workforce, and researching and locating staff. The post holder will then compile, analyse, and interpret information.

The post holder will use judgement and analysis skills along with AHP specific knowledge to produce reports identifying current needs to directly inform investment into AHP roles and departments and provide the framework for workforce planning for the next 5 years. This will inform budget setting and investment into the AHP workforce.

Work in partnerships with AHP Faculties and Councils at system and regional level. Providing reports and presenting feedback on the progression of the project. Negotiating complex relationships across the ICS to deliver both on NGH needs and inform changes across the ICS.

Devise complex project plans with clear objectives and time frames to deliver key aspects of the AHP Workforce Strategy focussing on the recruitment, retention and development of the AHP workforce.

Make recommendations regarding the sustainably of AHP developments and programme of work in NGH. Including department budgets, investments and accessing trust and HEE/NHSI/E funding to develop and expand AHP roles/capacity.

Work in collaboration with the HEE AHP Regional Lead to support regional and national objectives.

Achieve impactful outcomes which will be aggregated at system, regional and national level to address workforce shortfall and build sustainable AHP workforce supply in the future.

Be responsible for Identifying and implementing new models of workforce development; specifically leading on international recruitment and return to practice as well as preceptorship and apprenticeships.

Be responsible for being the AHP knowledge expert to ensure systems for workforce development meet the goals of effective recruitment and retention.
