Job Title: Training Hub Advanced Practice Lead

Responsible to: Birmingham Solihull Training Hub Lead

**Job summary**

The post holder will be employed by South Doc Services to work as part of the Birmingham Solihull Training Hub (BSOL TH) to support a portfolio of projects relating to the delivery of education, training and workforce development across the BSOL footprint. The individual will be working with key stakeholders including, but not limited to Primary Care employer, Local Authorities Social Care Teams, Community Care providers, BSOL CCG, Integrated Care System, primary care employers, Primary Care Networks, Health Education England (HEE), Health Education Institutes (HEI), and NHS England,.

Reporting to the Training Hub Lead, the Advanced Practice (AP) Lead will support implementation of the advanced practice agenda in primary care to help develop and implement a multi-professional advanced practice strategy. The post holder will be required to scope and promote the role of advanced practice across primary care employers within the locality.

The post holder will be an experienced and enthusiastic Advanced Practitioner with extensive experience in primary care. The individual will have excellent communication skills, a passion for practice learning and assessment and a credible track record of excellence in teaching and learning. This will include close working relationships with the Birmingham Solihull Training Hub team, HEI tutors delivering the postgraduate programmes, General Practice/ staff, senior clinicians in local primary care settings and external partner organisations. This role is open to any Advanced Practitioners with the required skills and competencies and an understanding of the role of the Advanced Practitioner in primary care.

**Key responsibilities**

The post holder will be employed by South Doc Services working within the BSol Training Hub to deliver responsibilities as listed:
Leadership

1. On behalf of employers, work closely with the HEE GPN Workforce Lead, Primary Care School and the regional Faculty for Advancing Practice in progressing the advanced agenda in primary care across the locality

3. Contribute to developing advanced practice strategies that reflect local, regional, and national priorities, supported by the Primary Care School and the regional Faculty for Advancing Practice.

4. Support, develop, and implement advanced practice roles in primary and social care, ensuring succession-planning and implementing/monitoring career and development pathways

5. Communicate with individual General Practices throughout primary care to offer support and promotion of advanced practice roles.

6. Identify challenges that may accompany the implementation of advanced practice long-term strategies across primary care and direct or influence the necessary measures to overcome them

7. Support project work associated with advanced practice across the locality

8. Engage primary care stakeholder organisations across the locality to support the development of advanced practice roles in a standardised way

9. Support local primary care organisations in implementing HEE’s competency frameworks for advanced clinical practice

10. Support the Primary Care School and the regional Faculty for Advancing Practice in establishing effective means of engaging patients, carers and the wider public in the development and evaluation of advanced practice across the locality.

11. Work in partnership with local primary care employers in developing and driving advanced practice workforce implementation and development

12. Attend meetings of groups relevant to advanced practice developments as required by the needs of the locality

13. Support collaborative working across and between other locality groups within the Midlands region and wider when required

14. Develops routes of investment in workplace for a supervision infrastructure for trainee advanced practitioners in primary care in collaboration with the regional Faculty for Advancing Practice

15. Establishes or supports established local Advanced Practice forums in the locality and networks with AP Leads across the Midlands footprint

16. Works with primary care employers to support the educational requirements for advanced practice roles across the locality.

Administration

1. Ensures all reports and KPIs are submitted as required in collaboration with the Primary Care School and regional Faculty for Advancing Practice.

2. Supports the drafting of Project Initiation Documents (PIDs) as required in collaboration with the Primary Care School and regional Faculty for Advancing Practice.

3. Support the Primary Care School and regional Faculty for Advancing Practice in the scoping exercise required to bench mark AP in the locality by distribution of surveys as requested.

Communication and Engagement

1. Supports local, regional and national projects when implementing best practice relating to advanced clinical practice.
