**Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) **has an exciting opportunity available for two **Safe and Well Officer's** **to join our team in **Maidstone. **You will join us on either a **full-time or part time, fixed term contract, **and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of** £28,239 - £32,136 per annum pro rata**.

**About the role**:
As a **Safe and Well Officer**, you will undertake safe and well visits and activities and provide advice and guidance to members of the public. The aim of the visit is to reduce risk of fire in the home and to advise and support people in making choices in terms of wellbeing and lifestyle that can contribute to their ability to live safely in their own homes.

Contract's available:

- **18 months temporary** **37 hours** per week which will include occasional evenings and weekends.
- **12 months temporary** **28 hours** per week which will include occasional evenings and weekends. Salary will be pro-rata.

**As our Safe and Well Officer, you will be responsible for**:

- Undertaking Safe and Well visits to customers within the community including people who are at risk. Identifying risks and, where fire related, provide advice on prevention. Install smoke detectors and other fire prevention equipment within customers’ homes
- Whilst undertaking visits, the post holder will identify any other issues that may be a risk for the customers living at the premises. This will include: fall hazards, winter warmth, domestic abuse, smoking/health and lifestyle choices
- Engaging with customers in order to gain an understanding of personal motivations and find ways of influencing behaviour in order to improve safety and wellbeing
- Making referrals and exchange appropriate information with partnering agencies in order to improve safety and wellbeing of customers
- Recording outcomes of individual visits, case records and administration
- Maintaining service equipment and vehicles in line with organisational policy

**What we’re looking for in our** **Safe and Well Officer**:

- Literacy qualification at GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above
- Full Driving Licence
- Knowledge and understanding of partnership agencies including Kent Police, Age UK, KCC, NHS and Social Services in order to liaise and share necessary information to the most appropriate third party
- Knowledge of data protection, freedom of information, confidentiality and how this affects sharing of information to third parties
- Experience of identifying potential safeguarding issues; experience of recognising signs and symptoms of adults and children at risk
