We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join us as a Governance Officer in the Pensions Service based at One Angel Square in Northampton.
You’ll support the Governance and Regulations Manager to deliver an effective governance framework to the Cambridgeshire Pension Fund and Northamptonshire Pension Fund including, effective committee management, business planning and risk management.
What will you be doing?You’ll be helping the Governance & Regulations Manager to make sure the Funds have:

- Wide-ranging objectives, that are reviewed regularly, and are achieved.
- Key strategy, policy documents, key performance indicators and risk registers that are aligned with the Funds’ objectives.
- Terms of reference, structure, roles/responsibilities and constitution for each Fund’s Committee and Local Pension Board.

You’ll assist with managing the Funds’ Committees, including:

- creating agendas
- preparing papers
- making sure they’ve the appropriate skills and knowledge
- reviewing their effectiveness.

You will also be required to attend meetings at One Angel Square and Guildhall based in Northampton as well as New Shire Hall located in Alconbury Weald.
You’ll help to manage the procurement process to make sure procurements are appropriately planned and that an accurate procurement register is maintained.
About youYou’ll have:

- A degree level or equivalent.
- An understanding of what good governance looks like in the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain clearly complex issues to non-specialists.
- The ability to prepare and deliver professional presentations and training to groups.
- The ability to plan and organise time and resources to make sure that deadlines/targets are met.
- The personal qualities and skills that promote open and constructive relations with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders.
- The adaptability to meet reasonable expectations of customers.
