The Senior Buyer role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selectedas the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

**The role**

**The difference our new Senior Buyer will make**
As a Senior Buyer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role operates within the Operational Materials and Services Procurement element of the central services support team. The team support the sourcing, contract management and supplier managementof indirect services for all our internal customers across the business to enable the delivery of critical support packages to our customer the Royal Navy.

Day to day, you'll be responsible for providing procurement and commercial input into and sign off statements of requirement prior to release to suppliers, complete requirements and co-ordinate order placement as well as ongoing contract management on largerpackages.

**Essential experience**
- Obtained or undertaking CIPS level 4 accreditation.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or understanding of the principles (desirable)
- SAP / IFS experience
- MPS and MRP experience
- Ability to present information to Director level
- Understanding of working in an engineering environment
- Cross functional team experience
- You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
