Overview:
London Borough of Harrow’s Business Support Service is currently seeking a Business Support Officer to work as part of the core Business Support Administration Team for Adult Social Services.

The post holder will be required to demonstrate a commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and the ability to understand and implement the policy in relation to the job responsibilities. To ensure compliance with your responsibilities as laid out in the council’s health and safety policy and take an active role in promoting a positive health and safety culture. The post holder will promote and participate in the council’s individual performance appraisal and development initiatives and information management best practice.

In accordance with the Immigration Act 2016, where the role is customer-facing and the post holder is required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

About you:
To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:

- Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook / GroupWise
- Knowledge of working in a customer-focussed environment and the principles of providing excellent customer service
- Experience of planning delivering services in line with service priorities, strategies and policies
- Considerable experience on office practice and procedures including problem solving, demonstrating initiative and initiating improvements
- Experience of working with a range of stakeholders
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to prioritise own workload to ensure all tasks are completed within given timeframes.
- Ability to investigate and respond effectively to minor customer complaints, judging appropriately when to escalate an issue to the line manager
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
