The GLA’s Community Engagement Team helps bridge the gap between Greater London Authority (GLA) and London's communities. Our team works on giving communities a platform to be seen, heard, resourced, and to be more actively engaged in the City’s decision making.

The Civil Society Policy and Data Officer role will be focussed on delivering the work of the GLA in strengthening and supporting civil society through the design and delivery of two key programmes - the Civic Strength Index and Civic Data Innovation Challenge.

We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of how to use qualitative and quantitative data to inform policy making and is interested in creating new ways of developing data maturity for community and civic sector. Someone who is an analytical thinker, with strong project management experience, preferably experience of community grants and commissioning, and a team player to work within the Community Engagement Team, which is part of the GLA’s Communities and Social Policy Unit.

**Principal accountabilities**
- Lead on developing and delivering the teams work on the London Civic Strength Index. Bring together civil society data to help improve the evidence base for London and the Civic Strength Index, in priority areas for policy development and provide data for evaluation.
- Programme manage the Civic Strength Index work and Civic Data Innovation Challenge. Leading on contract management of commissioned partners and lead on the delivery of the data innovation challenge.
- Work closely with the Community-Led recovery lead and Intelligence Unit to identify challenges in accessing, harmonising and analysing civil society data, supporting with the development of the Insights hub.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the GLA’s civil society strategy, policy and programmes.
- Work closely with GLA colleagues to support and help build capacity within the sector to improve practices.
- Establish and maintain systems and processes for ensuring the implementation and effective delivery of key projects.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
- Understanding of civil society and the major challenges faced by voluntary and community sector groups and organizations
- A strong understanding of how to use qualitative and quantitative data to inform policy making
- The ability to convey technical information to a range of audiences via published reports, data tools, and oral presentations
- Experience of establishing external partnerships and managing multiple relationships with stakeholders
- Experience of project management and community engagement, working on projects to develop new ways of capturing and sharing data.
