**Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils** are looking for a **Sheltered Housing Officer **predominantly to work in Sudbury to join our team in Tenant services. You will join us on a **full time (37 hours per week**) permanent basis. Full time, part time and job share opportunities will be considered.**You will earn a**competitive salary of £22,369 - £25,409 per annum (pro rata for part time)**

**About the Sheltered Housing Officer role: **

You will carry out a range of housing related support duties for residents of sheltered housing schemes, including:

- Based full time at our Sheltered Housing Schemes in Sudbury, you will also provide cover at other schemes within the two districts when required.
- Welfare calls to residents, identifying and arranging additional support if required. Supporting tenants and helping them to live independently. Respond in an emergency to residents. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records. Complete support plans. Weekly and monthly Health and Safety inspections/checks. Report any safeguarding issues. You will ensure that the council policies, procedures and risk assessments are strictly adhered to.
**What we are looking for in our Sheltered Housing Officer**:
We are looking for a dedicated person who is organised, able to manage a varied and sometimes challenging workload and can communicate well, showing empathy and compassion.

You will need to have the following:

- A relevant qualification at NVQ 2 or Equivalent knowledge gained through experience. Basic First Aid Certificate. Knowledge of the needs of older people and an awareness of Safeguarding issues. You will also be able to organise and structure you own working day and work without direct supervision.
- IT skills, with considerable experience of Microsoft Office package including Microsoft Excel and Teams. An awareness of health and safety matters. A current driving license and access to a vehicle.
