**Location**: UK only - London, Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast.

**Context**

The British Council is implementing a finance transformation programme and the GPO will play a key role in designing and implementing efficient FP&A processes within the new Target Operating Model. The GPO will have to work effectively with senior stakeholders and the centre of excellence.

Initial priorities include;
- Establishing networks and building relationships across the corporate, SBUs, global FP&A teams, Centre of Excellence, and Shared Service centre.
- Mapping existing FP&A activity, methods and tools and developing recommendations for consolidation of differing methods into a more standardised FP&A management reporting, budgeting, planning, forecasting and analysis.
- Developing changes to FP&A data structures and cost allocation methodologies for management reporting.
- Supporting the introduction of new Global Finance governance arrangements and developing business changes for FP&A methodology and tools.
- Developing the business case and scope for a new Planning & Reporting tool.

Managing diverse stakeholder relationships and keeping abreast of wider corporate developments and new initiatives is key to the success of the role. Key relationships include:

- Director Corporate Finance
- Head of Planning and Reporting
- Director Finance Operations
- Finance Global Process owners, in particular GPO Record to Report & Data
- Director Finance Transformation
- Director Strategic Projects
- Directors FP&A SBUs and Professional Services / Transformation
- Head of Finance Shared Services Centre and/or outsourced service provider
- Regional Financial Directors and their FP&A teams
- GIS SAP Team and other GIS managers

**Role Purpose**

The purpose of the role is to lead the development of processes, tools/systems, data structures/cost allocation methodology and Standardised Management Reporting for Global Financial Planning and Analysis activity (FP&A).

The Global Process Owner (GPO) for FP&A will ensure that there are efficient and fit-for purpose processes and tools in place to produce and present accurate management reports, budgets, plans and forecasts and related analysis, which support informed business decision making.

The FP&A GPO will ensure that FP&A processes are consistent with the British Council’s Strategy, objectives and operating environment. They will drive continuous improvement and leverage technology to achieve best practice in FP&A processes. They will act as a champion for change, for consolidation of existing methods and tools into standardised global FP&A methodology.

They will develop constructive relationships with Shared Service providers, holding them to account and working with them to drive improvements.

The FP&A GPO must be comfortable challenging senior stakeholders to ensure consistent, clear, and efficient management reporting, budgeting, planning, forecasting and analysis are in place and that these are consistent with business needs and corporate objectives.

They are expected to proactively engage with groups carrying out change, ensuring that related FP&A activity remains fit for purpose. In due course, once new governance arrangements are in place, they will lead the sign off approval process for any change to these processes working with senior stakeholders to ensure that any change is relevant, and that adequate change planning and training is in place.

This role will lead the future activity on the development and introduction of new FP&A planning tools, linkages with SAP and in due course a new ERP solution.
